Ali Muhammad Shirazi has called 18 people of his first followers in the first five months of his claims as Hayy letters. In the book Persian “Bayan”, Bab considers 18 people of Hayy letter as those who turned to him and were created by God before everything. He has also assumed them as the results of the holy Imam’s (peace be upon them) resurrection.
The Hayy letters are as follows: 1) Mullah Hussein Boshrouyee who has been KAzem Rashti’s pupil for 9 years 2) Mullah Muhammad Hassan (the younger brother of Mullah Hussein Boshrouyee 3) Mullah Muhammad Baqer (Mullah Hussein Boshrouyee’s niece) 4) Mullah Ali Bastami (one of Seyyed Kazem Rashti’s pupils). 5) Mullah Hassan Bajestani (HE repented after a short while and turned against trusting in Babism of Ali Muhammad Shirazi). 6) Mullah Khoda Bakhsh Qouchani. 7) Muhammad Rozeh Khan Yazdi 8) Seyyed Hussein Yazdi (the so-called author of inspiration. He repented in Tabriz and turned against Bab. After being freed, he joined Bab’s followers again). 9) Saeed Handi. 10) Mullah Jalil Aroumi (one of Kazem Rashti’s pupils). 11) Mullah Baqer Tabrizi. 12) Mullah Yousof Ardabili. 13) Mullah Mahmoud Khouee (one of Seyyed Kazem Rashti’s pupils. 14) Mullah Ahmad Abdal Maraqehee (one of Seyyed KAzem Rashti’s pupils, 15) Mirza Muhammad Ali Qazvini (Qorratul Ein’s sister’s husband). 16) Mirza Hadi Qazvini. 17) Tahireh Qorratul Ein (one of the pupils of Sheikism creed). 18) Muhammad Ali Barforoushi (entitled Qoddous, he was one of Kazem Rashti’s pupils for 4 years).
As became obvious the most basic element in succeeding and proceeding Babism movement is the existence of intellectual and theological background of Sheikism and the struggle of Sheikism creed pupils. From not electing any successor by Seyyed Kazem Rashti and promising the emergence soon to creating backgrounds such as claiming for the existence of special deputies for the Imam of the time (P.H.) which was exploited by Ali Muhammad Bab at the beginning of his claims. Claiming for Horqoliaee body for the Excellency Mahdi (P.H.) and his penetration in various bodies which was exploited by Ali Muhammad Bab in the middle of his claims. Also, the rejection of physical resurrection declared clearly in the holy Quran which was exploited by Ali Muhammad Bab when at the end of his claims for abolishing of Islam he encountered with the continuation of Islam to the day of judgment and for posing his claim for prophethood. So, he presented an unprecedented interpretation of the day of judgment.
