I am Siyamak Zand, and I was born in 1320 A.D. in Tehran city [1]. My mother is Mirza Mahmoud Kashi’s granddaughter. Mirza Mahmoud accompanied Mirza Hussein Ali from Iran to Acre and was with him to the end of his lifetime. He was trusted by Hussein Ali Nouri (Bahaullah) and He was buried in Acre city he was where Hussein Ali Nouri was buried. It is necessary to be explained that he was also accompanied with Reza Qannad (Hoveyde’s grandfather) in this path. Of course, his surname was not Qannad. Qannad was a title given to him. Later on, the surname Hoveyda was elected. Mirza Mahmoud Kashi and Mirza Reza Qannad were brother-in-law; that is, my mother was the granddaughter of Mr. Amir Abbas Hoveyda, the prime minister.
– Do you have any memoir regarding your close relationship of your family with Bahaullah [2] and Abbas Effendi?
-Yes, my mother had narrated that in one of their texts narrated from Bahaullah. “In the path of paradise, I was riding on thunder and lightning and trees were bending me and birds were singing for me.”
My mother said to me that it is written in the Baha’i sources:
«كنت راكباً على البرق و كنت راكباً على الرعد في طريقي الى الرضوان فسجدت لي الاشجار و غَنَّت لي الأطيارة»
If you search in the books or tablets, it is written that thunder (Ra’d) and lightning (Bargh) were two donkeys. Mr. Hussein Ali Nouri didn’t possess any car at that time. The means of commuting were horses, donkeys or mules. Hussein Ali Nouri possessed two donkeys called Ra’d and Bargh: one of them was fast which was called Bargh (Lightning) and the other had a nasty sound which was called (Ra’d)
Thunder.
