The formal base of the delegacy office of the Baha’is in Iraq [1] reported about holding and participating of the members of this office in a dialogue workshop oriented in supporting minority rights. An event which has been held aiming investigating the conditions of religious [2] and tribal minorities and strengthening cooperation mechanism among them.
According to the report, this workshop has been held entitled ” the strengthening of supporting minority rights and creating mechanisms for common cooperation” cooperated by a dialogue committee. The participants have investigated the challenges facing minorities, supportive strategies and strengthening co-existence principles and social peace.
This event is being held while the Iraqi Baha’is don’t possess judicial position officially and nationally and their activities are limited.
Some analysts are pointing out measures such as publishing works related to this creed or supporting university famous people such as Saad Salloum which is narrated by them to be an indication for their attempt to pose their viewpoints and active presence in the country’s intellectual and social circumstance.
The kind of the confrontation by the Iraqi sovereignty with these activities has also been paid attention. Some observers consider the relatively tolerant approach of the formal foundations as a sign of concentration on managing social variety and decrease in religious tensions in the current circumstances. Oppositely, another group believe that this procedure can end in the expansion of the Baha’i [3] followers’ activities and an increase in its role in social domains which is one of the fields to create difference and insecurity in Iraq.
