The problem is this:\u00a0 There are some doctrinal and spiritual issues in the Baha\u2019i faith<\/a> that I can no longer accept.\u00a0 Since I began attending an Episcopal church last year, many of those issues have been thrown into sharp relief.\u00a0 Seeing them “from the outside” has helped me understand the latent problems I’ve had with being a Baha’i all these years.<\/p>\n

Most of the issues I’ve described here come from later interpretations, not from His own pen.\u00a0 Therein lies the problem.\u00a0 With the Covenant, Baha’u’llah<\/a> made it very clear that Abdu’l-Baha‘<\/a> was his successor, and that what he said was authoritative; and then it passed to the Guardian, and so on down to the Universal House of Justice.\u00a0 To believe in the authority of some of these institutions and not others is to break the Covenant, which is emotionally impossible for me. It’s also illogical.\u00a0 I don’t see how I can believe that Baha’u’llah<\/a> was who He said He was, and yet discount what He clearly said about the succession of His authority.<\/p>\n

That leaves two choices:\u00a0 I accept all of it, or I accept none of it.<\/p>\n

Now you know what I have to do.\u00a0 Since I can’t make myself accept all of it anymore, I feel like I have no choice but to resign my membership in the Baha’i Faith<\/a>.<\/p>\n
