In the universe tablet, Hussein Ali Nouri surprised
and was really sorry about this issue that the statesmen welcomed Seyyed Jamaluddin Asad Abadi when he arrived in Tehran and considered his playing role in governmental affairs as abjectness of the Iranian government and court.
Abbas Effendi also wrote a letter to one of the Baha’is of Qazvin city and called him as “good-for-nothing seyyed Jamal”, “unknown seyyed Jamal” and “not forgiven seyyed Jamal”.
Abbas Effendi has also called seyyed Jamal, Mirza Agha Khan Kermani and Sheikh Ahmad Rouhi forger, the greatest corrupt and harmful.
Shogi Effendi calls seyyed Jamaluddin Asad Abadi as seyyed Afghani, vengeful enemy and was happy with him afflicted by cancer.
The reasons for these enmities:
۱)Seyyed Jamal didn’t have good feelings toward Babism
۲) Seyyed Jamal was anti- Colonial. So, preaching his thought caused the Colonial lords and the Baha’i heads to be sad about him. This factor shows the strong bond between Baha’ism and Colonialism.
۳) Seyyed Jamaluddin, the Babis and Al-Bostani encyclopedia:
In 1875. A.D. Petros Al-Bostani announced in Beirut that he has started to compile encyclopedia in Arabic language. He had translated the Bible in Arabic language along with Eli Smith and Van Dyck. He was the founder of the national school and Al-Jenan periodical in Beirut city. He published Mohit Al- Mohit dictionary in 1870 A.D. He also compiled an encyclopedia and took the Babism part over seyyed Jamaluddin to compile.
During that period of time, Seyyed Jamel was most aware oamong people concerning the issue of the Babis and other authors were relaying his documents. So, Al-Bostani took Babism entry over seyyed Jamal to be published in vol.5 of the encyclopedia in 1882 A.D.
Edward Browne read seyyed Jamal’s article and considered it as fair. Edward Browne writes: ” I saw seyyed Jamal just once. I think it was in the fall 1891 A.D. after his second exile in England. It was in Prince Melkom Khan’s house in Holand park. I have still a live memory of his charismatic Character. We spoke for a while about the Babis because he had a comprehensive knowledge about them (He wrote an impartial explanation about Babism in Potros Bostani’s encyclopedia, but he had no idea about them.
Publishing this article caused the Babis of that period of time who had become Baha’is to be angry with him and to revenge.
۴) During Naseruddin Shah’s period of time, the Babis who had become Baha’is tried to present a new image out of themselves and their creed. So, they wrote a letter for the Shah on Moharram 10, 1308 A.H. (Aug. 25, 1890 A.D.) to say they are separated from each political activities against Naseri government in order not to be pursued and persecuted by the government. However, seyyed Jamaluddin Asad Abadi wrote articles against Babis in the newspapers of Egypt and Beirut encyclopedia. So, hostility against him continued.
Seyyed Jamal also wrote an article in his famous epistle in India and published in 1298 A.H. in Bombay and revealed their ominous nature. He has also considered the Babis as the agents of 100-year retardation of Iran.
