Tahirch Qorratul Ein is one of the influential characters in the deviant movement of Babism who has influenced on general thoughts of Iranian people during the past two centuries misusing the category of Mahdism.

She is one of the puppets who has justly tried hard to fulfill the Colonial aims. She was Zarrin Taj Baraghani Qazvini. Grown in a cultural family, she possessed false self-confidence which at last caused her to be far from the original beliefs of Islam and entered into Sheikism.

The dominance powers were searching for a person who possesses ability and necessary charisma to be able to be introduced as the hidden Imam. For this reason, England commissioned Mullah Hussein Boshrouyee to find such a person and persuade him/her to claim for being Mahdi. He found a young seyyed called Ali Muhammad in Shiraz city who was seyyed Kazem Rashti’s pupil in Karbala.

    Bab - Rashti

Zarrin Taj heard the news about Seyyed Ali Muhammad Shirazi’s claim and entered into the scene along with her pupils to make the colonial aims of her lords clear. When she was in Najaf and Karbala, she humiliated the Islamic commandments under the flag of the Ottoman government to such an extent that the scholars decided to ask the governor of Baghdad to send this seditious woman from Iraq to Iran and he did, too.

Zarrin Taj’s entrance to the Iranian land:

When the governor her of Baghdad dismissed her from Bagdad, a large number her followers became ready to move towards Iran. When she entered into Iran, she resided in Karand city for three days. The people of this city were Ahl-e-Hagh; so Tahireh and her followers left the city and headed off towards Kermanshah.

Sedition and riot are of the features of this woman. When she entered into Kermanshah along with her followers, she created religious tension and crisis there. After entering, she rented three houses and determined one of them as the center of proselytizing and started preaching and proselytizing Ali Muhammad Shirazi’s illusions.

Agha Abdullah Mojtahed who was considered as of the scholars of Kermanshah assumed confronting against this atheism movement as a duty for himself. He asked people not to pay attention to Zarrin Taj Qazvini’s illusions and not to go to her proselytizing center. He also mentioned the aristocrats and dignitaries of the city not to allow Qorratul Ein to enter into their houses. When Agha Mojtahed found out that he wasn’t able to destroy this sedition, he was harassed and sent an agent to Qazvin city secretly and asked Tahereh’s family and relatives to make her leave Kermanshah.

Hajj Mirza Hassan Nikou believes in his book called the philosophy of Nikou that when Tahireh became aware of Agha Abdullah Mojtahed’s view, she left Kermanshah and headed off towards Hamedan. She was proselytizing when she arrived at villages.[1]

When she arrived in Hamadan, they were 40 men and women who rented three houses there and appointed one of these houses as the center for proselytizing. After several days, they started proselytizing the atheist and deviant movement headed by Mirza Ali Muhammad Shirazi. To investigate, people were paying attention to this center to know who these people are and what they say. Not only in this center, but also in alleys and bazars, Zarrin Taj’s disciples started proselytizing Zarrin Taj and Ali Muhammad Shirazi’s illusions. Qorratul Ein herself was going to dignitaries houses in the city to such an extent that she became present in Bahman Mirza castle, the ruler of Hamadan to preach her beliefs![2]

Also, some princes held debating assembly among some scholars and Qorratul Ein for their amusement and recreation. At that assembly, there were two Jewish people called Hajj Mullah Eliyaho and Mullah Laleh Zar. Because those two Jewish people were the enemies of Islam, they welcomed the disunity created among Muslims and exaggerated about Qorratul Ein.[3] So, a large number of Jewish people accepted Ali Muhammad Bab and Qorratul Ein’s rubbishes and became Babi. While since Christ Jesus (P.H.) was sent as the prophet of God, they didn’t recognize Christianity formally, but how they considered Ali Muhammad Shirazi as the savor is worthy to be thought.

When Tahireh realized that the condition is ok and because she was thinking of opposing Islam, the gathered the illusions of Mirza Ali Muhammad Shirazi cooperated with her Babi disciples and the Jewish ones in an epistle and sent for the wisest scholar of Hamadan city. The mentioned scholar observed the invitation for accepting Mirza Ali Muhammad Shirazi’s claim and became furious and ordered for the carrier of the letter to be punished. Qorratud Ein and his followers figured out that the circumstance is too confused, so they left there towards Qazvin.[4]

When Zarrin Tay entered into Qazvin city along with her disciples, she could proselytize there helped by the Russian consulate. Several people became fond of her words mixed with her female flirting and coquetry and became Tahireh’s devotee.

Her father Mullah Saleh and her paternal uncle Mullah Ali tried hard to prevent her, but they weren’t successful. Mullah Muhammad Taghi Baraghani, Tahireh’s elder paternal uncle couldn’t stand Qorratul Ein’s insulting against Islam and considered the origin of those disrespects in the teachings of Sheikism and Ali Muhammad Bab’s teachings. So, he made the community aware.

Mullah Muhammad Taghi Baraghani

For this reason, she became the enemy of her paternal uncle and decided to assassinate him. To assassinate her paternal uncle and her father-in-law Mullah Muhammad Taghi Baraghani, Tahireh made her followers and disciples leave the city except for several people who had been appointed to fulfill the aim fifteen days before the assassination.[5]       Suddenly; in the morning, the trembling voice of Mullah Muhammad Taghi Baraghani filled the city with riots and commotion. Five people of Zarrin Taj’s followers who had left in the city ordered by her were arrested. One of those who caused the event introduced himself as the main cause and confessed the names of other companions. All perpetrators were arrested and sent to Tehran to be punished. The main one who had ordered for the assassination was Tahireh Qorratul Ein. She was imprisoned the house of the ruler in the city. She wrote a letter for Mirza Hussein Ali Nouri in Tehran.

Mirza Hussein Ali could rob her out of the ruler’s house helped by one Babi from Qazvin and transferred her to Tehran. Several days later, she left Tehran to go to Khorasan city.

      Badasht event

The next event in which Tahireh was active was the Babis’ gathering nearby a village called Badasht. This village is near Shahroud city. At that time, Bab had been imprisoned. Babis’ gathering in Badasht is a turning point of Babi movement. After Badasht event, Tahereh resided in Mazandaran for a while.
