To recruit and keep people in the organization, Bahaism possesses its own methods which can’t be found in any cult or even political organization. These methods include proselytizing sessions inside the organization, the administrative plan, the spiritual boycott and overt activity.
I) Boycott
By the establishment of the universal house of justice, the organizational supervision over the cult members was intensified and boycotting people who made mistakes was performed which was really strict and inhumane.
There are two excommunications in Bahaism: administrative and spiritual.
Administrative boycott included people who violated the theological and organizational principles of Bahaism such lack of presence at receptions as the or elections or doing and obeying Baha’i commandments necessarily and seriously. These kinds of people are being boycotted administratively and aren’t allowed to participate at formal meetings of the organization and elections.
The spiritual boycott includes people who have turned against Bahaism or those who oppose the basic principles and the definite texts of Bahaism openly. In this boycott, the members of the family of the boycotted person and even his/her friends are not all owed to say hello or speak or have social intercourses with him/her.
II) proselytizing
Sending proselytizers to various countries and building various were dawning places of the Mention of God were very influential in introducing this cult to people in various parts of the world particularly in deprived regions by granting financial aids for recruiting.
III) overt activity
This method is used activity in face to face activities. The members of the organization use social activities such as preserving the environment and etc. to keep in touch with people directly. Then, they recruit people using various kinds of tricks emotionally, mentally, financially and etc.
During Pahlavi periods of time, Bahaism had influenced Iran backed up by America and Zionism to such extent that the Baha’is were openly announced being Baha’is.
