Cosmopolitan principle is one of the important ones in Bahaism which is closely related to the universal unity and universal peace principles. Bahaullah says in this regard in the book Aqdas: “The world is considered as a homeland and what is on it is too.”[۱] So, asking for peace is not a newly-emerged and new one which is being proselytized and preached recently, but it is the hope for the well-intentioned in the world during centuries and eras.”[۲]
Removing borders among religions is necessary for the fulfillment of the universal unity and peace; because all of them reveal one speech and utterance.
It may be practically impossible to separate these principles; that is, the universal unity, universal peace and the universal principle of cosmopolitanism; because all of them tell an important story of the unity of religions which is gained when these three categories are acquired.
It must be asked in evaluating generally that what are the strategies for fulfilling these principles and for making them practical?
Which bases or method must be used in order for this government to be formed or managed if the government is to be universal? How is it possible for the peace among religions to be guaranteed? How is it possible for the equality between men and women to be fulfilled? These questions can be asked concerning the principle of education, benefiting the holy spirit grace, balance in human kind economy and all other principles.
Secondly, none of them are new. All moral and intellectual schools and religions have said these utterances and Bahaism is not unique in this view.
Thirdly; according to the Baha’is, Babism is an independent religion and Babi teachings are rough and against the Baha’i ones. There is a 20-year gap between Babism and the establishment of Bahaism. How has the divine inspiration been willed for too different and contradicted religion to be established? As long as we know, each new inspiration completes the old one. It doesn’t contradict it.
