Horror is a kind of weapon; that is, if you frighten your enemy very well and enough, you may defeat it without bloodshed and conflict. Such logic in this atmosphere is a mental war; that is, a weapon which aims the mind.

It is said that psychologically fear is a spiritual-mental state based on which the mental balance of human being is disturbed and so his/her voluntary power will be decreased and even sometime it approaches zero. So, he/she will be surrendered instead of making a wise decision.

In this method the weapon of threatening and creating horror among the enemy forces are used to weaken their spirits and wills. The mental operation specialists are threatening and frightening their addressees via various ways and inducing them to encounter possible dangers and harms on their ways. So, they will have a vague future along with difficulties and problems.

Pratkanis has spoken about other applications of this technique and believed that resorting to fear technique is sometimes used to mobilize a front again foreign threat.

The instances for resorting to fear:

Example one: Radio Al-Ma’louman and (the radio ran by the American to demoralize the Iraqi military forces and to influence on public thoughts of Iraq before war) was used by America and England to apply resorting to fear and exaggerating the power of destroying by American and British weapons using rough music. They tried to induce negative excitement to their addressees to demoralize Iraqis. So, the Iraqi forces couldn’t encounter against American attack.

Example two: ISIS group executed extensive massacres to demoralize the military forces of the other side and to make fear in people’s hearts who were supporting both political systems of government after the onset of their criminal activities in Syria and Iraq. They are trying to represent that each kind of confrontation against them is equal to death by updating their method of killing people such as beheading, making them sink in the river, burning the captive such as the Jordanian pilot and etc. bucing applying the method of “resorting to fear”. So; due to this ISIS behavior, some villages and cities of Iraq were surrendered without conflict and resistance.

Example three: The cult and sectarian organization are similar Bahaism. To recruit people, these cults confront with cheerful faces and recruit people using various mental and material measures, but when the member became the formal one of the cult, they frighten him/her from the consequences of separating from cult that the person doesn’t dare to be separated or to withdraw. For instance, Bahaism pursues the trick of creating fear to not to be separated from the cult entitled administrative and spiritual boycotts.

All registered Baha’is will be considered as the formal members of the Baha’i community unless he/she is not boycotted.

There are two kinds of boycotts in Bahaism:

      I) Administrative boycott

      II) Spiritual boycott

The administrative boycott includes people who violate the theological and organizational principles of Bahaism such as not participating at receptions seriously considering or elections or not considering the Baha’i commandments as necessary. So he/she isn’t allowed to participate at formal meetings of Bahaism organization and elections. The spiritual boycott includes people who are j boycotted by the local and national assemblies confirmed by the universal house of justice. This kind of boycott includes ex-Baha’is or those who have openly opposed the basic principles and definite and certain Baha’i texts. In this boycott; in addition to the limitations of administrative boycott, the boycotted person’s family members and even his/her friends are not allowed to greet and speak with him/her. Some of these people are Mahnaz Raoufi, Jahangir, Ahdiyeh Muhammad Husseini, Mahshid Rezaee and tens of other ex-Baha’is.
