In his recent report, Ahmad Shahid claimed for systematic repression of the Baha’is of Iran and introduced being Baha’i in Iran as crime. However, appointing special reporter for the Baha’is who had defended terrorism before indicate the binary behavior of the United Nations concerning the issue of human rights.

In a report presented in 49th session of human rights council in Geneva in which the Baha’i international community (BIC) was present, the claim for the Baha’is oppression in Iran was particularly investigated. According to Ahmad Shahid, the Baha’is activities to express their beliefs have been considered as crime.

Answer to Ahmad Shahid’s report:

۱- Why has a special reporter for the Baha’is human right been appointed?! Why hasn’t a special reporter for racism and Islamophobia been appointed!

۲- The reporter isn’t impartial. Ahmad Shahid goes from a TV. Program to the other Persian one and takes position against the Islamic Republic of Iran! In Ahmad Shahid’s reports against Iran, he has even defended terrorism!

All people who have been arrested or punished in Iran have been introduced as the defenders of human rights in Ahmad Shahid’s reports[1]

۳- It is claimed in the report that a new law considers being Baha’i as a crime in Iran! However, Ahmad Shahid who resembles more to the spokesman of the Baha’is than the special reporter of the United Nations didn’t point to the law text! Which law?!

۴- Expressing and proselytizing Baha’ism belief in Iran is against the Baha’i principles[2]. The Baha’i leaders have called their followers to obey the governments! Why hasn’t Baha’ism been bond with its principles and disobeyed its leaders’ order?!

۵- Contrary to Baha’i organization no one in Iran encounters limitations such as occupation and education just because of believing in Baha’ism. As many Baha’is are working and educating in Iran. Of course, announcing the membership in the Zionistic organization of Baha’ism can have limitations for the members.

It is suggested to the Excellency Ahmad Shahid to consider the unjust sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran as clear violation of human rights.
