Dr. Muhammad Mosaddeq’s visit to America is one of his typical characteristics of Mosaddeq’s first period of his prime minister post. The historians consider it important due to his speech on Mehr 18, 1330 S.H. in security council. In this article, we are investigating Dr. Mosaddeq’s visit with the representatives of the Baha’i assembly in America on Mehr 26, 1330 S.H. on Birthday Anniversary of Seyyed Ali Muhammad Bab. In spite of Mosaddeq’s insistence3 on hiding it, the report of the visit has been printed in the book “the innocent” compiled by Muhammad Taqi Effnan on pp. 215-218 and Bahram Choobin has written about it in the book Dr. Muhammad Mosaddeq and the Baha’is” on pp. 44-50.
During the visit, Mosaddeq has expressed his sorry in a surprising comment about what he called as the illegal behavior against the Baha’is and attributed such propositions to the religious leaders who are influenced by communists! Eventually, he has promised to help the Baha’is. At the end of the meeting he asked the representatives of the Baha’is assembly in America to write a complaint on the branched paper of the assembly in order for him to pursue after coming back to Iran. During the visit, Mosaddeq has asked the Baha’is to hide his promise in order for him to be able to do an action in favor of them, otherwise he could do nothing. In one of the plenary meetings of the Parliament in 1330 S.H., he explicitly stated: “A luminous old man came to me in my dream and said: Go and nationalize oil!” this comment which astonished media and assemblies was considered as a kind of exploitation of religious feelings.
In the court when he was accused as irreligious, he became furious and introduced himself as a believing Muslim and a fully committed one! Now, the question is that: How is it possible for a person who manifests religious appearance and even claims for having relation hips with ulterior world promises to help a creed which is going to abolish Islam and spy for aliens be attributed to his religions carelessness or a struggle to attract the American view to help his government! Assuming each reason, this action is a vagueness point in his report paper and is worthy to be discussed by researchers of the history of national movement.
