According to an ancient belief existed among people, Charshanbeh Souri ceremony is executed aiming warding off calamities and fulfilling wishes. Charshanbeh Souri is an ancient celebration held by the Iranian people to welcome the new year people light fire in this ceremony Surround it, make 3, 5, or 7 hills of fire and jump over them and sing poetry.
It is said about the philosophy of Charshanbeh Souri that fire is a one of the four elements and the mere element which cannot be contaminated. For this reason in ancient time, the Iranian people valued fire very much and considered it as the symbol of purity, light and brightness. Fire cause darkness to be removed and gives warmth. Lighting fire, people tried to get away from darkness. As a matter of fact, the main philosophy of holding such ceremony is being together and happy.
