night of tenth of the lunar month of Moharram in Qom city.

The nightly meeting of the Baha’is in Oveysi garden, Qom City:

Nearly 1339 and 1340 S.H., the Baha’is had a meeting in oveysi garden (Field Marshal Gholam Ali) in Qom city as a nightly assembly.

Sometimes, they had programs which were really tragic and harrowing; such as taking a Muslim kid to the garden and killing him/her while they were dancing and crying for joy. A person who had seen the adventure said: Once; in one of the Baha’i assemblies, a large number of Baha’is had gathered together. Several colonels had come from Tehran city to Qom. They had robbed a ten-year-old son from Tehran and brought him to Qom city. It was the night of the tenth of the lunar month of Moharram and I had sat in my workplace when one of my friends came and said: There is an assembly in Oveys garden. Do you like to watch? I agreed and we went to the garden. We watched standing at the back site of the building. We saw the boys and girls who were dancing and there was a boy at the middle of the scene on the ground. All people around the table were carrying a pennant in his/her hand and hitting the boy while they were dancing.

I saw a colonel sitting as if he had a good time! I thought for a moment that some people are sitting in mourning ceremony of Imam Hussein (P.H.) and are beating their breasts and some irreligious people are dancing here. I got furious. I said to my friend: Ali Allah! Devil-may-care! Then, I took out my gun shot the colonel! The colonel fell on the ground. Everybody shouted and screamed and the assembly was cancelled.

Next, my friend and I went forward and threatened people. At that time, they were surrendered with their hands up. We imprisoned them in one of the rooms of the garden and closed the door. Then, we got worried what to do with the colonel’s dead body. We hid him under a pile of fertilizers in the garden. We sent the injured Muslim kid to Tehran to give him to his parents. Next, we went to one of the mourning ceremonies of the Lord of the Martyrs (P.H.)! The next morning; we went to work; as if nothing has happened! After a while, a group of people came in shouting and said: “We have lost a handful of people! Haven’t you seen them? We said: “No, did you leave them with us?” At last, they didn’t make us guilty.
