Ayatollah Fadhel Lankarani’s view concerning the interaction with the Baha’is
Ayatollah Hajj Sheikh Muhammad Fadhel Lankarani was born in Qom city, 1310 S.H. His father was born in Lankaran city, the republic of Azerbaijan and his mother has been from Seyyed family, Qom city. He passed his religious sciences education in Najaf city, Iraq in the presence masters like late Ayatollah Broujerdi (P.H.), the great scholar Tabatabaee (P.H.) and Imam Khomeini (P.H.).
After the victory of the Islamic revolution, he taught jurisprudence and principles in the theological school of Qom. After the departure of Ayatollah Araki, he was one of seven religious guides and was introduced as the first by the Qom seminary teachers association. He passed away in his house on Khordad, 26, 1386 S.H. and was buried in the Excellency Fatemeh Ma’soumeh (P.H.) holy shrine.
The following is his view concerning interacting with the Baha’is:
In the name of the Most High
- The Baha’is aren’t Muslims; but they are infidel and unclean.
- It is not allowed to say hello to them first and you must be careful about impurity and purity commandments shaking hands and touching them
- Interacting with them is allowable unless it doesn’t make their false religion preached or it doesn’t make Muslims weak.
- Their food is unclean and impure and eating it is illegitimate
