The Baha’ism organization is considering the position of prophethood for its leaders and is assuming the religion of Islam is abolished and ended. The influence of this organization after being failed by the scholars of Qajar era intellectually and the execution of Ali Muhammad Bab declined. However, after Muhammad Reza Pahlavi gained power a particularly during 1330s and 1350s, the Baha’is gained basic posts in government and the court and proceeded different methods of fight against Islam supported by the Colonial countries. The role of aware clergymen particularly Ayatollah Broujerdi (P.H.) and Imam Khomeini (P.H.) after him to fight against this cult intellectually and legally neutralized many common aims of the government and Baha’ism.

Ayatollah Broujerdi’s position

Among the shia scholars, Ayatollah Broujerdi (P.H.) was the most sensitive and followed campaigning against them in various forms.

Ayatollah Broujerdi was both active in proselytizing activities to reveal the Baha’ism face in public and pursue continually and warn the Pahlavi statesmen politically.

Mr. Waez Zadeh who is of the pupils of Imam Khomeini (P.H.) and Ayatollah Broujerdi and has observed the political events of that period of time says: “In basic, campaigning against Baha’ism started by Ayatollah Broujerdi (P.H.) He considered the danger of Baha’ism as serious.” (Jam-e-Jam newspaper, No. 29, Shahrivar 1386 S.H. 50).

After returning from Najaf, he started his campaign in Broujerd city. During the years when the Baha’ism organization had intensified its activities in Broujerd city particularly in administrative offices, Ayatollah Broujerdi confronted against them seriously and exited the city opposing this issue.

The news of his leaving city caused people in region and cities to demonstrate. The government felt dangerous and tried to make him return. Soon, the Baha’i assemblies were cancelled and the deviant people were transferred, and he came back to the city (The Islamic glories, Dawani, Ali, 1379: 110, 109, 112).

Dr. Jazayeri states one of the struggles of Ayatollah Broujerdi interviewing with the national unity newspaper:

“In 1329 S.H. when I was the minister of culture, I was told that Ayatollah Broujerdi has decided to visit you. Ayatollah Broujerdi (P.H.) said: I have a message for the government and the king: Shoqi Effendi has ordered from Acre that the Baha’is must appear their assemblies. Now, they are setting plaque (that here is assembly). This has caused Muslims to complain and even one of the officers of gendarmerie in Kashan city is officially proselytizing, but the government doesn’t do anything to prevent…” (Clergymen-Baha’is, Kouhestani Nejad, Masooud, 1386: 110).
